Simply, complex

Trees glitter with sunlight and breezes flirt with my hair,

Ants waltz between sidewalk cracks

and summer skies fill up with warm promises.

This is the life of a breather, dreamer, seeker and lover:

Using eyes and lashes and pupils and contacts,

Goosebumps and nerves and cells and skin

To love the simply complex way life continues.

Holding hands up to the wind’s kisses,

Pushing toes down around the grass’s hair,

and breathing full and bright life,

A sweeping revelation sets into my mind and satisfies a thirst;

I define freedom’s definition,

Happiness is perception,

and contentment is a choice.

I’m taking back life and breath,

I’m taking back ownership of my heart’s beating, pacing, pumping.

I’m walking this road with all of me,

I’m traveling with purpose beneath my heals,

And confidence tucked back behind my lashes.

This is the life of a breather, dreamer, seeker, and lover:

Simply, complex.
